Description

Understanding surface properties and the atomistic processes that govern them is critically important for the creation and performance of advanced materials serving modern technologies such as electronic, magnetic, and optical devices, sensing, catalysis, or coating. First-principles simulations are a powerful approach for reaching this understanding, in particular when the multi-scale nature (from nanoscopic to mesoscopic and beyond) of phenomena in real materials is properly addressed. This summer school gathers leading theoretical and experimental researchers in the materials sciences to review recent advances in such simulations in the light of topical, material-specific problems and experimental findings.

This Marie Curie Psi-k Training summer school is ideally suited for young researchers (graduate students, postdocs, junior faculty) from physics, chemistry, and materials sciences who seek to come abreast with the latest developments in the field and discuss their own research projects with their peers and senior experts.

All participants are asked to present a poster on their research.

Young colleagues are invited to take part in the "Young Investigator Competition". The winner will be awarded a diploma plus 500 Euro in cash. Details can be found [here].
